FixZtream

Privacy Policy

Effective 2 October 2026 (v2.0.0)

In short: FixZtream collects no personal data, sends nothing over the internet, and has no analytics or tracking. Everything it records stays on your own computer.

What FixZtream does

FixZtream is a browser extension that runs a fixed set of Windows troubleshooting tasks through a companion helper program installed on your PC — for example System File Checker, DISM, temp-file cleanup, a Microsoft Defender quick scan, DNS and network resets, print-spooler, audio and camera fixes, battery and disk health reports, Windows Update repairs and Chinese language installs. It can also open built-in Windows tools such as Device Manager. It can also clear a website's stored data (cache, cookies and site storage) in your browser when you ask it to.

Site data

When you open FixZtream, it looks at the tab you are on to show the Clear site data card. Chrome only allows this for the tab where you clicked the FixZtream icon. FixZtream reads:

It does not read the page's content, your cookie values, what the site has stored, or your browsing history. Nothing is cleared until you press the button, and clearing happens inside your browser. The site's address and the amount cleared are written to the activity log on your device.

Information stored on your device

To show you an activity log, the extension keeps the following in your browser's local extension storage:

The companion helper also appends a one-line summary of each task to %ProgramData%\FixZtream\activity.log on your computer (or %LOCALAPPDATA%\FixZtream for tasks that run without admin rights). The battery report is saved to %LOCALAPPDATA%\FixZtream\reports. Task output may include your Windows user name, computer name, IP addresses, disk and device names.

This information never leaves your device. You can clear the extension's log at any time with the Clear button, and remove the file log by running the helper's uninstaller with -RemoveLogs.

What we do not do

Network activity

The extension itself makes no network requests. Some tasks make Windows contact Microsoft, exactly as if you ran them yourself: installing a language and DISM repairs download from Windows Update (or your organisation's update server), and the Defender scan first updates its definitions. Those downloads are governed by Microsoft's privacy terms. The Download helper link opens the helper's GitHub release page in your browser.
